I loved reading this book because as a first-year classroom teacher, I'm inundated with resources for classroom management and oftentimes OVERWHELMED by the amount of material and techniques out there. Ansary offers a clear, comprehensive and concise picture of classroom management. He touches on all aspect from lesson design to daily structure to anxiety and anger among students.

If you buy one book on the topic of classroom management, make it this one. The classes that we've taken on teaching methods and management certainly have their place, but there's no replacement for the breadth of experience that Dr. Ansary brings to the table.
Ansary has taught students of all levels in multiple countries and across multiple subjects; he's identified those classroom management techniques which apply universally and successfully. The methods he describes here are tested and proven by his own years of experience. Anything short of that was omitted from the book.

As a student with experience in many of the programs and methods described in Ansary's book, I can say from first-hand experience that not only do these recommendations and methods work, but they allow both students and teachers to experience language instruction in new ways. Ansary's experience in language instruction combine with his genuine love for technology to produce a guide that is as readable as it is applicable; he expertly explains the what, why and how of each recommendation in his book.
Programs like EdPuzzle (one example of many mentioned in the book) provide students a new and relatable way to study their target languages, and it only makes sense that they (we) gain so quickly in classrooms which incorporate technology in their methods: we are the least likely generation in history to leave home without technology within
immediate reach. From smart phones to smart watches to in-dash touch screens and beyond, we have grown accustomed to (and come to expect) integrated technology in our day-to-day endeavors. Ansary understands this concept and harnesses available language-learning technology to the advantage of both students and instructors.

If you just can’t manage to clear your mind enough to meditate, this book is for you, as it’ll give you great (and easy to adapt to) guidelines on how to get to the mindfulness that we all want to achieve. Ansary does a great job of taking the reader through several steps to meditation without ever making the reader feel lost or confused.
Absolutely loved this book and could not stop reading until I finished it! Dr. Ansary moves his readers through the extremely simple and at the same time efficient steps. Following them will be paid off, starting from the very first days of our over busy and overstressed life.
In the past, I have tried various different books to mediate. This one has been one of the best since it very clear and precise. Chapter 1: What is Merch by Amazon?
Founded in 2015, Merch by Amazon was designed to attract app developers to Amazon’s vast online ecosystem in order for them to design and upload branded tee shirts. These designs were then developed into branded tee shirts that would be produced by Amazon, uploaded and featured on their marketplace and shipped by Amazon. All the designers had to do was to come up with the designs.
Marketed as the ultimate Print on Demand opportunity, Merch was opening up the tee shirt market to anyone with a vision. The lack of upfront costs and with customer service being handled by Amazon, this meant that Merch guaranteed a commission for every sale without the hassle of a new business venture.
This innovative marketing tool soon attracted people from varied walks of life. Merch grew quickly and the demand for membership soon exceeded any expectations and Amazon found they needed to limit membership to avoid challenges to the platform. They introduced an “Application Only” policy, which remains the policy to date.
How do I apply to join Merch?
Once you decide that Merch is the passive income opportunity you want to become a part of, the next step is to apply for membership. Before you apply, make sure you have the following resources:
● A company name will make your application seem more professional. Create a name that you can identify with.
● A personal website which can highlight some of your designs.
● Experience on other print on demand sites will help. Check out Redbubble, Sunfrog, Zazzle or Teepublic and try out your design
skills.
● Get inspiration. Try YouTube for other designers who have success
on Merch, also Facebook is a great way to connect with Merch
aficionados.
● Contact information
● Bank account and routing numbers
● Social security number or alternative tax identification code
Sign into your Amazon account. This can be a buyer’s account, your seller’s account or a brand-new account solely for Merch. You will also
find a tax survey and a company profile section. You will also need to supply your banking information. If you are outside of the US, Amazon may withhold up to 30% of your income for tax purposes.
Now head over to merch.amazon.com/landing and you will see the invitation form. Remember you only get one try at this so make sure you have done your prep work. Click “agree” on the terms of service and the form will appear. Take your time to fill out all the sections and carefully consider your answers.
Organization name: Fill in your name or business name.
Website (optional): Now this section may seem optional but bear in mind you are trying to stand out from the crowd. If you haven’t got a website, you should at least have a portfolio on one of the sites we described earlier.
Industry type: Choose the option that suits you best. Small business is an option that shows you take your ideas seriously.
Additional information: This is the area that you can use to sell yourself. Those who watch my YouTube videos about Merch by Amazon know that I concentrate on how to write the additional information about yourself. I always shed light on the importance of following the guidelines. Merch asks you to talk about yourself and your design background. Then, they ask you to write about what designs you plan to create for Merch. Tell Amazon how excited you are to become a member of Merch and what you can bring to the table. Tell them how unique and on trend your ideas are and what they can expect from you as a designer. Don’t worry if you don’t have experience as that will come in time. Enthusiasm is the key to being noticed, sell yourself and your designs!
Once you are happy with the form, go ahead and click on “Send Request” and that’s it! You will now have to wait to be accepted. There is no guaranteed time frame for a response, but it will probably be months rather than weeks. You will receive an email once your application has been processed but these can sometimes go astray. Check back at merch.amazon.com regularly to see if your account has been activated. Check your spam folder regularly too.
Once you have been accepted what next?
Okay, so the happy day has arrived, and you have your Merch account. Now is the time to acquaint yourself with the dashboard. You will find
four tabs on the right-hand side of your page and here is how you use them.
Dashboard
This is your first tab. Here you will see all the products you have for sale listed under “recent activity” on the left-hand side of the page. You can also view messages from the Merch team and track the slots you have available.
Create
The second tab is where you access the design page. There is a drop- down menu that allows you to choose the type of product you want to upload, and you can check out how your design looks. You have different options to place your artwork on the front and back of the tee shirts but, on the whole, the process is simple to understand.
Manage
The third tab gives you access to all of your products. It will give you information including the product, date created, list price, status, and action. You will see a status for all of your shirts and they will let you know what is happening with each design. It is common, to begin with, “Under review” and then “Started processing” until you will finally achieve “Processing” status.
This means that your product is live and on the Amazon marketplace, ready for people to buy! You will be able to click a link and see your design as the customer sees it.
Analyze
The final tab will serve you well once you have a couple of items that are selling. Here you will be able to track your sales, date, and check price wise whether your item is competitive. It will also allow you to check your earnings and which of your products are selling the best.
Quick Note
You have 90 days to sell your tee shirt before it is deleted from the catalog. This is the best way to keep the catalog up to date and helps you see what is selling. However, once you sell a tee shirt, this particular design will remain on Amazon forever, or until you delete it!
Chapter 2 How to Find the Most Profitable Niche Markets and Produce Best Selling Tee Shirt Designs.
These initial decisions will set the stage for your future profits. If you get it wrong when choosing the niche and design then your business is set for failure, no matter how you market and brand your tee shirts.
With this in mind let’s examine these fundamental areas of your business.
What makes a profitable niche?
Passion and Pride sell tee shirts.
Tapping into your customer's sense of pride is a sure-fire way to win their custom. Most tee shirt sales are driven by emotions. No matter how creative your design, if it fails to ignite a positive passion it will probably fail to sell. You need to create a reaction that will inspire your customers to share your design with friends and family, pride in the message your tee shirt generates.
Large audiences are one indication of a passionate following, but size alone should not be the primary indicator of profitability. The amount of money generated within the niche is a more reliable indication of profitability.
So, where do you start?
What about the most obvious source of all, Amazon itself? Begin your search by using these categories on Amazon to brainstorm niche ideas.
● Sports and outdoors
● Automobiles and Industrial
● Books
● Movies music and games
Trawl the subcategories such as “yoga” in sports and outdoors and you will get an idea of niches to investigate.
More categories for you to research
● Hobbies
● Occupations ● Politics
● Religion
● Culture
● Teams
● Festivals
● TV culture
Finding a niche with a passionate following is a great way to target your potential customer before you market your product.
The larger an audience, the greater the potential for scalability.
A small niche may provide less competition, but once you have scaled up your Merch account you will be looking for large audience multiples. This way you can break the niche down onto smaller sectors and adapt your designs to appeal to multiple target audiences.
As an example, if you search “pets” on Facebook you have a potential audience of 500 million, but that is not specific enough. Cats, however, will yield you 8.4 million potential customers and Persian cats have a community that includes 138K.
How do you know what the size of your niche is?
The easiest way to gauge the size of a potential market is to use Facebook’s Audience Insights Tool.
Enter your demographics, age range, gender and interests. Location is also listed along with languages. Once you have completed the details, the tool will generate your potential reach based on the size of the Facebook audience. As a guide over 100,000 users on Facebook is fairly big!
Other keyword research tools include Ubersuggest, Keyword Finder and Keywords Everywhere.
Cold hard cash!
You may uncover a surprisingly untapped niche source and believe that you have found the next market for your designs, but have you considered the monetization of your niche? If the majority of the followers of your niche are not online or technology friendly, then your source is useless.
Also, access to payment methods should be considered. Your audience should have ready access to credit cards, PayPal and other means of income.
Ask yourself the question, “Will my audience be able to navigate the Internet and find my product? Will they then have access to a means of payment? “
Targeting your audience.
Facebook and its followers are a great way to research interests and give you an idea of the marketing opportunities. Using the example of "Persian cats," 23 different groups show a potential audience of over 50,000.
German shepherd owners produced a potential audience of nearly 3 million likes and the potential for a profitable niche market. Further research shows that the members of the groups also followed gift sites and merchandise opportunities. This indicates that German shepherd owners and lovers are willing to splash the cash when it comes to their breed.
Using image-based networks can also lead to niche ideas that can inspire a top selling design. Instagram and Pinterest are filled with passionate users that love to share their passions with others. Search the sites for popular pinned subjects and use these to fuel your imagination.
Bestselling tee shirt designs.
So, you now have a list of niche subjects and a host of ideas. How do you turn those elements into a moneymaking design for your Merch tee shirts? There are two ways to begin your research and help you build that online tee shirt business.
1) What is selling? Classic designs and current trends will give you an idea of the market you need to tap.
2) How can you put your personal touch or take a fresh approach to classic designs?
If you are simply looking for ideas, Pinterest is a great place to start. Search for keywords, for example, "Persian cat tee shirts," and you will find hundreds of ideas to get you started. Also, take a look at the following sites for images designs.
● Canvus
● Teechip
● Thread me up
● Custom Ink
This is a great way to get an overall feel for the market it will not give you any real insight into the sales you can hope to generate.
Should you wish to get an insight into sales figures, the best place to go is the online markets. All of these sources will give you a degree of accuracy regarding their sales figures.
● TFund: Here you can search categories that will show you the products with the highest selling first. You can also check sales figures out.
● Represent: Check the most popular designs and sales figures.
● Zazzle: designs only available, no access to sales.
Once you have identified a design you wish to adapt or emulate, use social media to gauge the popularity of the design. Take a link to the campaigns you have identified and search for them on the free online tool “How many shares.” This search will enable you to identify any interest in the campaign on Facebook.
Tee Grasp will also help you to identify the most popular tee shirt campaigns and will also allow you access to important sales data.
You may feel that the research you need to do is time consuming and over the top, but you need to search all possible avenues for ideas. The more research you do, the wider your results will be. All you need to do now is come up with your own twist and start selling those tee shirts!
Chapter 3: Choosing a Winning Design
You have your new Merch account, and this means you have ten slots for your designs. Merch employs a tier system that begins with ten slots. As you sell your designs and increase your rankings you will reach a higher tier and more design slots. So, it is important to choose your initial designs with care. Here are a few pointers to help you choose the best designs and avoid the pitfalls that some beginners encounter.
● Online versus physical shops: One of the most common mistakes new designers make is to think they need a super cool and ultra-creative design to sell their product. This may work in physical shops, but the online business is a different story.
● Simple Works: There are three different criteria to follow when you are finding the perfect design
1) The design must be scalable
2) The design must have proven sale ability
3) Keep it simple
So, what does that actually mean?
Scalability: This means that the design you choose can be adapted to fit several niches. For example, if you design a logo that is sports orientated chances are you can use it for multiple sports. The idea behind this concept is that once you have found a concept that works, i.e. sells a lot of tee shirts, you can use the same design across as many niches as possible.
How to find proven designs.
There are multiple resources you can use to find designs that sell. Dedicated sites such as teescover.com and teespring.com are tee shirt research sites and can help you identify the kind of design you want. You can also think outside the box by using these other sources.
● Etsy.com. Etsy is an e-commerce website that specializes in vintage items and original manufactured items. They have a variety of gifted contributors who can help you explore more original artwork and designs.
● Wanelo.com: This is a digital mall that has over twelve million items listed for sale. The Name of the company originates from the three words, Want, Need and Love.
● Amazon: Obviously!
● eBay: Check out what is selling.
Browse these sites and find out what other people are selling and use it as a foundation for your own designs. Do not copy as this is a surefire way to get your account shut down. Tweak original designs and put your own stamp on them.
The simplest way to find awesome tee shirt ideas is Google, type in your preferred niche and add the following keywords.
● Cool tee shirts
● Amusing phrases
● Best-selling tee shirt
● Best quotes
For example, maybe you love a certain TV show. Add the name of the show to the phrases above and Google away! You will soon have access to hundreds of concepts that can turn into the next design for your tee shirt.
And the third concept? Keep it simple. Some of the best-selling tee shirts of all time are simply white text on a black background. Choose a font that works for you, come up with a catchy saying or phrase and voila! White text on a black tee shirt, bestselling tee shirt.
But what if you can’t make up a design?
Maybe you have an eye for what sells but feel that other people are better at the actual design process, can you still make a profit on Merch? Of course, you can! Here are five different ways to get a design even though you have zero design skills yourself.
1) Crowdsource with 99designs: This site allows you to describe the idea you have or the niche you want to reach, set the amount you want to spend and wait for the responses. Designers will submit their ideas for the design and you can pick the ones you like. The quality of work will ultimately depend on the amount you spend, but it will give you an idea of what you can get for your cash. 99designs have also released a "Find a designer" tool that allows you to browse designers based on your needs.
2) Dribble: This is an established platform for designers and allows you to browse their portfolios. If you like a designer’s style you can get in touch with them and discuss your ideas. Quick tip: Designers
who are seeking work will have a “Hire Me” button activated on
their page.
3) Freelance sites: Posting your job on a freelance site will allow
you to consider all levels of experience when choosing a designer to work with. You can also check the reviews from other users and base your choice on price and experience. The best sites for this type of ad placement are Upwork, Freelancer and Guru.
4) Fiverr: This site is an entry level opportunity for designers to offer their skills for five dollars. If you are keeping your designs simple and you just need someone to help you execute your idea this could be perfect for you.
5) Real life: Remember the days before the internet? When we simply asked people if they knew anyone who would want some work? Try it out. Maybe you have a neighbor who has design experience and would be willing to help. Students are also a great resource, check out your local schools for design students and get in early!
The main thing to remember is that all you need is an idea. The rest will follow, either using your own creative skills or utilizing others.
Chapter 4: Merch Ranking Factors
Having a kickass design is all well and good but selling on a global marketplace like Amazon is all about the rankings. Most people assume Google is the most popular starting point for product search, but a recent survey showed a different result. Power Reviews conducted a survey that showed Amazon was the preferred starting point with Google a close second.
With that in mind it is important you understand the key factors that influence how Amazon rank your products.
● Click through rates or CTR
This is the rate at which customers follow on to your product from search
results. Amazon follows this metric closely and it is a major factor
in deciding your overall ranking.
Improving your CTR in a crowded market is tricky but not impossible.
Add a special offer to your product, limited time discounts and
product bundles can help you get that edge on your competitors. Include your keyword in your display URL as this will help customers
searching for specific items to click on to your product.
● Conversion rates
Once you have the customer viewing your listing, it is important that
they then purchase (duh!) and this is the conversion rate. A low rate is a huge red flag to Amazon and can lower your ratings considerably.
Of course, it is impossible to meet everyone's needs, but it is important you make your listing as relevant as possible. Include all possible variations, sizes, and colors. Make your description informative and helpful. Bullet points can be an eye-catching way to sell your product and keep the customer happy.
● Reviews
Due to misuse of the Amazon review system in the past, they do not
influence your ranking as much as they did. However, they can affect your CTR. If you do get a negative review what can you do about it? Always respond to negative reviews and address the problems they have stated. Offer a refund or send a new one for free. Turning a negative review into a positive one can have a great effect on your listing.
Amazon is all about the customer care, showing you have consideration for your customers can only help your overall ranking.
● Product title
Using a keyword to optimize your title is a must. These keywords will
change regularly due to outside influences and it is a necessity to do your research frequently. Use the Amazon search found at Merch Informer to help you narrow down keywords that are in vogue.
A great starting point to generate these keywords are the following 1) Keep Calm
2) I Love
3) My Favorite
4) Straight Outta
The idea is to generate phrases that are suitable for your niche. These will help you increase the traffic your ads generate, this, in turn, helps your rating.
● Brand Name
There are two ways to use your brand name to boost your rankings.
Establishing your brand name alone will help you climb the rankings, but if you use your keyword as brand name you will achieve even higher rankings.
● Features
The product feature is a key way to sell your product and it can be
tempting to fill it with keywords that are already associated with your product. Amazon takes a dim view of this and prefers features to be short and to the point. Be descriptive without repeating yourself, use synonyms and vivid description to sell your product. If you struggle with synonyms, use an online thesaurus.
● Discounts and pricing
CTR will be increased whenever you offer discounts or price cuts. In a
niche market that is swamped with copycats sometimes the only way to stand out is to lower the price. This can help initial sales and bring attention to your listing. Amazon has a filter that can be used by customers to promote any listings that include a discount.
A recent study showed that lower prices and discounts are the main reason that 40% of customers use Amazon. Use this fact to promote your products and increase your rankings.
Most of all you need to be on trend to keep ahead in a busy market. Research is the key to success. Know your customer and you will know
what they want. This is an everchanging world in which we live in, yesterday’s trends could be today's bestselling tee shirt. Only you can determine how you can profit from that fact!
Chapter 5: How to Market you Merch by Amazon Shirts for Free
Being part of Merch and designing your shirts is just a tiny part of the process. Once you have your shirts online, you can just sit back and improve your rankings while waiting for sales. Is this the best way to generate interest in your products? The simple answer is NO! Get your product out there and SELL! How do you do that? Follow these simple steps and get the word out.

Step 1: Set up an account
You need to set up an account and entering the pinterest.com/join link will take you to a page. Here you will see two options, a business account or a personal account. Always sign up for the personal account.
Quick tip! You can use a female name for your account as personal accounts with a female name attract more followers.
Fill out the rest of the form and then click on the “come on in” button. You then need to pick 4 topics that interest you. This will then lead you to the Pinterest browser button, this is the key to your account. Download and install it!

This will then mean that all of their followers will see the image and so the process is repeated. The upshot is that if you have a lot of followers one image could reach thousands of people in a matter of hours.
The classic way to build the number of followers you have is to follow them first. They should then receive a notification which will lead to them checking out your boards and follow you back. Simple and effective. Choose people who are interested in the same subjects as you are and the niches you have chosen for your shirts. You will soon have a following that is active and interested.
A quick way to gain followers is to repin images that are hugely popular. Likes and shares are a sure-fire way to increase your followers and increase the traffic to your shirts.
